Camarillo Couple conspires and commits grand theft in multiple states!

On October 3, 2018, the Simi Valley Police Department’s Property Crimes Unit, in collaboration with Target Corporation’s regional loss prevention unit, concluded a four month long investigation into two subjects who were conducting an elaborate fraud scheme that spanned four states. Anthony Madrigal (46 yrs) and his wife Kerstin Keesing (44 yrs) of Camarillo developed a scam in which they manipulated “SKU” numbers to alter the actual price of high priced items. They would purchase the items at extremely reduced cost and then return the items for full price value. It is estimated that they defrauded the Target Corporation out of over twenty thousand dollars. Upon the arrest of Anthony and Kerstin, a search warrant was executed at their Camarillo home during which elaborate computer equipment, altered SKU numbers in the hundreds, over $6,000 in suspected proceeds from their fraudulent actions, and two illegal firearm silencers were recovered along with a small portion of the fraudulently gained items from Target. Madrigal and Kerstin were booked at the Ventura County Jail for violations of 182(a)1 PC-Conspiracy, 487 PC- Grand theft, and 33410 PC- illegal possession of silencers.

It is believed that this couple has also defrauded other large box stores in a similar manner. Should any loss prevention investigators or law enforcement agencies suspect that this couple could be involved, please contact Detective Josh Lorencz at (805) 583-6224
