There is a water main leak in Schoenbar Road adjacent to the intersection of Valley Forge Road.  To avoid impacting Schoenbar Middle School and the Ketchikan Charter School, the excavation repair work is not scheduled to begin until 4:00 pm, Friday October 5^th.   Prior to then, one-way traffic with flaggers will be maintained while preparatory work commences cutting the asphalt paving
However, this leak is in 36-inch water main which is the sole water supply for the entire City.  Should the leak worsen to where KPU can no longer maintain an adequate water supply to the community, the necessary excavation and repair work will begin immediately.
Irrespective of when the repair work begins, it will be necessary to completely close a portion of Schoenbar Road with “No Thru Traffic” and “Water Utility Work” signs posted adjacent to Schoenbar Middle School and at the entrance to the Gateway Recreation Center.   Emergency vehicle access is possible by diverting through the Gateway Recreation Center Parking Lot and out the driveway from Ketchikan Charter School.  Please contact KPU Water Department at 228-2441 with any questions.
