Advisory

City of Lancaster Weekly Road Closures through October 7, 2018

In an effort to improve our neighborhoods and city streets, the City of Lancaster conducts a variety of road construction projects which will ultimately benefit our citizens. While these construction zones typically restrict traffic flow for an interim period, the results provide smoother roads and better infrastructure in various locations throughout Lancaster. Additionally, a number of community events take place year-round throughout the City, resulting in temporary traffic detours during event setup, activity, and breakdown. The City of Lancaster strives to provide as many opportunities as possible for community gathering and engagement.

  • The BLVD Market is an opportunity for the community to gather and enjoy an offering of fresh produce and unique items in an open market atmosphere. The Market’s summer hours are 4 – 9 p.m., every Thursday on Lancaster BLVD, between Ehrlich Avenue and Fern Avenue. This area will be closed to traffic and parking from 1 – 11 p.m. on Market days. The BLVD Market will not be taking place Thursday, September 27.
  • Lane closures on Avenue I, between Fern Avenue and 17th Street West, are associated with the City of Lancaster Avenue I Corridor Improvements project. The scope of work includes street reconstruction; sidewalk, curb and gutter construction and repairs; as well as landscape improvements. 13th Street West will be closed to through traffic across Avenue I; right turns only permitted.  On Avenue I, Westbound traffic may not turn left at 15th Street West and Eastbound traffic may not turn left at 10th Street West.
  • Intermittent lane closures are in the vicinity of 10th Street West and Avenue K-8, due to utility and street improvements for the Ram of the West development.
  • Intermittent lane closures on 30th Street East, between Avenue I and Lancaster Blvd., as well as on Avenue I, between 26th Street East and 35th Street East are due to Cole Middle School pedestrian improvements.  The scope of work includes concrete and asphalt sidewalks, bulb outs, crosswalks, ADA improvements, bike lanes, and traffic signal improvements.  Expect delays and choose alternate routes.
  • Sidewalk closures on Kildare Street, Gadsden Avenue, and Lancaster Blvd. near The BLVD Starbucks location are due to construction related to the Marriott Hotel development.
  • Intermittent lane closures on Lancaster Blvd., east of 40th Street East, are due to utility and street improvements at Lancaster Baptist College.
The 2018 Streets of Lancaster Grand Prix will take place on The BLVD from Friday, September 28 through Sunday, September 30. The multi-day event includes an evening street party on Friday and Saturday night from 6 – 11p.m. The BLVD and surrounding areas will be impacted due to fencing installation and safety protocols necessary to ensure this event is safe and enjoyable for all. Expected road closures include:
  • The BLVD, between Sierra Highway and Fig Avenue will close at 7 a.m. on Thursday, September 27.
  • Closures for racing will begin the morning of Thursday, September 27 and be completed by Thursday evening. The closure plan is designed to allow as many streets and driveways to remain open as long as possible on Thursday. However, once the fence installation is complete, access to the businesses between Ehrlich and Date, south of The BLVD, will only be through the special access driveway as shown on the enclosed diagram.
  • The BLVD closure for Friday, September 28 will be from Sierra Highway to Gadsden Avenue.
  • The BLVD closure for Saturday, September 29 will be from Sierra Highway to Genoa Avenue to accommodate the car show as part of the evening festival.
  • The BLVD closure for Sunday, September 30 will be from Sierra Highway to Fig Avenue.
  • All road closures will be removed and access will be restored late Sunday evening.
