Lawrence Township News for the Upcoming Week

THIS SATURDAY  - The Mercer County Improvement Authority is hosting a Household Hazardous Waste Collection and Electronics Recycling Event, tomorrow, September 29, 2018, between 8:00 am and 2:00 pm. at the Dempster Fire School on Lawrence Station Road. Please click here for further details.

Trenton Water Works Violation Letter - Lawrence residents who receive drinking water from Trenton Water Works will soon receive a required mailing regarding excess levels of HAA5 and TTHM (disinfectant byproducts that form when naturally occurring organic matter combines with disinfectants, such as chlorine, which is added to kill microorganisms). This is NOT an emergency situation and there is NOTHING FOR RESIDENTS TO DO (meaning that residents do NOT need to boil water and do NOT need to take corrective actions).  Rather, the mailing is required because the public has a right to know about the violations.  For both contaminants, quarterly samples are averaged over a12-month period; and when the average of samples exceed the standard or maximum containment levels, violation notices are required to be sent to all system customers. The attached notice from Trenton Water Works (which customers will receive in the mail) provides further information. Should residents have any further questions, they should contact Trenton Water Works at 609.989.3055.

Trenton Water Works Forum
- Trenton Water Works officials, along with the Mayor of Trenton, will be hosting a community forum on October 18, 2018, from 7 pm to 9 pm at the Lawrence Senior Center.  It will be an opportunity for TWW to explain the steps it is taking to improve the quality of water it is delivering to its customers and to answer questions.

Mosquito Spraying - Mercer County Mosquito Control will be spraying in Lawrence Township between September 28 and October 3.  Please visit this link for the details. In addition, Mercer County Mosquito Control would like residents to be reminded that with the recent rain and damp weather mosquitoes will continue to breed in our neighborhoods. Attached please find some mosquito prevention tips and reminders about how to reduce mosquitoes and mosquito breeding conditions from your property.

Message from the Department of Public Works:
It is important to know that grass clippings MUST NOT be placed in the roadway.  Grass will not be picked up by the Township.  It should be bagged and disposed of in your blue trash cart.  Please go to the Public Works webpage for more details on how to dispose of grass clippings and other items.  http://www.lawrencetwp.com/pw.html

LEAF COLLECTION  PROGRAM:
Please be reminded that at the end of October brush collection will be suspended.  During the months of November and December, the Public Works Department will only be picking up leaves.

Brush must not be placed at the curb for pick-up earlier than the weekend prior to your designated pick-up week.

The week of October 1 is Zone 1.  Only those residents in Zone 1 should be placing brush in the roadway this week.  If you are unsure of your designated zone for your property, you may check the On-Line Property search on Township website at www.lawrencetwp.com.

Material should be placed in an area on the street not greater than four feet (4’) from the edge of the pavement.  Trees greater than an 8-inch caliper may not be disposed of through curbside collection.  Materials shall not be piled greater than three (3’) in height.  Once the truck has collected your street, they will not return until the next month’s collection.
