October is National Crime Prevention Month

The entire month of October is dedicated to keeping our city safe. Its purpose is to promote interest and enthusiasm for local crime prevention efforts. The Simi Valley Police Department would like to challenge the community to make crime prevention a priority and assist in making our community safer from crime and violence. Your police department strongly believes that community involvement in crime prevention has played a vital role in helping to reduce crime and reduce the fear of crime in our city. Police Officers are unable to be on every corner; therefore, community policing is vital. Safe communities often result in law enforcement working with residents as equal partners in preventing crime. Both business and residential neighbors, must take a more active role to protect themselves and their property. The best crime-fighting tool is a good neighbor; helping to keep neighborhoods safe from crime, social disorder, and prepared for any emergency.
