September 17th

Shoplifting: CVS, 10650 San Pablo Ave:
At 1440 hours, officers responded to the report of a shoplifting that just occurred at CVS. A 24-year-old Richmond man stole laundry soap and fled. He was located on Lexington Ave., placed under citizen’s arrest, and released on a citation.

Public Intoxication – Atlas, 11382 San Pablo Ave:
At 1927 hours, officers responded to a vandalism and detained a 24-year-old man from San Pablo. A vandalism could not be confirmed, but the man was heavily intoxicated and unable to care for himself. He was arrested and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Grand Theft – Freeway Motel, 11645 San Pablo Ave:
At 0248 hours, officers responded to a 911 disconnect and contacted the victim. The victim was staying at the motel and was outside smoking a cigarette when a man approached the victim and offered to sell the victim marijuana. The suspect asked to use the victim’s bathroom in the hotel room, and the victim agreed. Several moments later the suspect fled out the bathroom window with the victim’s iPhone X.

September 18th

Shoplifting – CVS, 10650 San Pablo Ave:
At 1239 hours, officers responded to the report of a shoplifting that just occurred. The suspect, a 37-year-old Richmond woman, was located fleeing the area. She was placed under citizen’s arrest, booked at the ECPD, and then cited.

Auto Burglary – Denny’s, 11344 San Pablo Ave:
At 1626 hours, an officer responded to the report of an auto burglary. At approx. 1512 hours, an unidentified suspect smashed the window of a parked vehicle and stole a laptop. The suspect fled north on Kearney St. in a newer black Mercedes with no license plates.

Grand Theft – Sprint, 3020 El Cerrito Plaza:
At 1911 hours, three juveniles entered the business while two more remained outside as lookouts. The three stole three display cell phones and fled towards BART.

Robbery – Safeway, 11450 San Pablo Ave:
At 1947 hours, a female suspect stole wine from the business and was confronted by security as she left. The suspect responded by spraying the security officer with pepper spray and fled the store with the wine. She was last seen southbound on the BART Path.

September 19th

Warrant Arrest - 1900 Key Blvd:
At 0857 hours, officers responded for a civil standby to clear the house and make sure it was unoccupied prior to workers entering to clean. A 46-year-old Berkeley man was located inside the residence. He had a felony warrant for his arrest.

Robbery – Starbucks 11861 San Pablo Ave:
At 1315 hours, three males wearing hooded sweatshirts entered Starbucks and stole a laptop from a customer.

Weapon Brandishing, Battery – Walgreens, 11565 San Pablo Ave:
At 2223 hours, an unknown suspect concealed items in the store and was confronted by security as he left. The suspect gave back the merchandise but spit and poured Gatorade on the security guard. The suspect brandished a folding knife and fled southbound on a bicycle.

September 20th

Trespassing- Mira Vista Berkeley North Hotel- 6009 Potrero Ave:
At 0935 hours, an officer responded to the report of a subject refusing to leave the lobby of the Mira Vista Berkeley North Motel. A 39-year-old man from Richmond was acting belligerent and frightened a staff member who locked himself in the office. After leaving once, he returned only to be placed under citizen’s arrest. He was arrested, booked and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Shoplifter - Safeway - 11450 San Pablo Ave:
At 1230 hours, officers responded to the report of a wheelchair versus vehicle collision. A 51-year-old Richmond male loaded his electric wheelchair full of various meat products. He was known as a chronic thief at the store. As he was fleeing the store, he broadsided a vehicle moving eastbound through the parking lot. The subject was ejected from the wheelchair as well as the $329 in sausages and bacon he had concealed in his clothing. Store staff assisted putting him back into the wheelchair and recovering their property. Luckily he did not suffer any injuries. He was placed under citizen’s arrest, and field cited.

Robbery – Walgreens, 11565 San Pablo Ave:
At 1328 hours, an officer responded to the report of a female, approx. 20 years old, wearing a black sweater, black pants pulling a suitcase containing stolen property. A fight with security ensued, and she ultimately dropped the property and fled westbound. The security guard was uninjured.

Burglary - 5700 block of Fern St:
At 1401 hours, an officer responded to the report of a residential burglary. Between 1000 hours and 1400 hours, an unknown suspect smashed the front window of a residence and removed the wooden dowel that secured the window. They did not appear to have made entry beyond that.

Battery – 11700 block San Pablo Ave:
At 2025 hours, officers responded to a battery. The female suspect was blocking the sidewalk and yelling and cursing at the victim. The two had never met before, and the victim did not know why the suspect was yelling and cursing at her. The suspect slapped the victim once in the face with an open hand and continued to yell at the victim. The victim was scared and went to the Laundromat where there was a group of people. The suspect followed the victim to the Laundromat where the suspect proceeded to yell and curse at a 6-year-old. The suspect then fled the scene. The 62-year-old female suspect from Richmond was located at San Pablo Ave. and Knott Ave detained. She was positively identified during an in-field show-up and placed under citizen’s arrest. She was booked at the ECPD and then transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

September 21

Outside assistance, Burglary, Stolen Vehicle – 10900 block of San Pablo Ave:
At 0730 hours, San Francisco Police requested the assistance of the El Cerrito Police Department to contact an owner of a vehicle which was stopped in their city. An officer contacted the owner of the vehicle and discovered it was a stolen vehicle, and his apartment was broken into. SFPD advised they contacted a 28-year-old male who was driving the stolen vehicle earlier in the night but could not arrest him.

Possession of a Stolen Vehicle and Warrant Arrest – Kearney St and Potrero Ave:
At 0943 hours, an officer conducted a traffic stop and discovered the vehicle was reported stolen. The occupants of the vehicle, a 53-year-old male from San Francisco and a 40-year-old female from Richmond were taken into custody. A wants and warrants check revealed the male also had an outstanding warrant out for his arrest. The female was booked and then released, while the male was booked and taken to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Commercial Burglary and Evasion – 3030 El Cerrito Plaza:
At 1127 hours, officers responded to a report of four males who entered the business and took several electronics. Upon arriving in the area, an officer located the suspect vehicle and attempted to stop it. The vehicle failed to yield, and a pursuit was initiated. The pursuit was canceled a short time later due to public safety reasons. The suspects stole approximately $5000 worth of electronics.

Drunk in Public – 9895 San Pablo Ave:
At 1350 hours, an officer was dispatched to the business for a complaint of male harassing customers. The officer arrived on scene and contacted the subject, a 39-year-old male from El Cerrito, and determined he was too intoxicated to care for himself. The male was taken into custody then given a courtesy ride to his residence where he was released to his father.

Petty Theft – 2600 block of Mira Vista Dr:
At 1257 hours, an officer reports a suspect approached their porch and took a package containing groceries. The victim happened to be home and opened the door, and the suspect fled to an awaiting vehicle.

September 22

Commercial Burglary – 11700 block of San Pablo Ave:
At 0815 hours, an officer reports an unknown suspect entered a business by shattering the front glass window. A drinking glass was removed from the building and left outside. No other property was taken.

September 23

Vandalism – 2700 block of Sonoma Ave:
At 1038 hours, an officer reports the arrest of a 41-year-old female after she went to her relative’s residence and broke out two windows using a metal pole from the victim’s mailbox. The female also destroyed a lawn statue. The female was booked and then taken to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Grand Theft – 11565 San Pablo Ave:
An officer reports four females entered the business and removed the entire display and shelf containing makeup and concealed it. The suspects then fled the store with approximately $5000 worth of merchandise.

Shoplifting and Battery – 11450 San Pablo Ave:
At 1514 hours, an officer reports a suspect entered the business and selected items and attempted to walk out without paying. The suspect was confronted by an employee near the exit, and the suspect pushed the employee. The suspect then dropped the merchandise and proceeded to walk through the store. The suspect then returned and took the property and left the business.
