Narrative:

On 09/23/18, at approximately 6:15 am, deputies were dispatched to a home invasion robbery that just occurred in the 1000 block of Mesa Drive in the unincorporated area of Simi Valley.  Suspects Kenneth Mariano, who was armed with a handgun, and Antoinette Acosta forced their way into the residence and took property from the victims.  The suspects also forced entry into several rooms in the residence, in order to locate some of the victims.  Units from the Simi Valley Police Department were first on scene.  They located the suspect vehicle and initiated a high risk stop on it, which was conducted with the responding Sheriff’s units.  Mariano fled from the stop and was taken into custody shortly after, with the assistance of a sheriff’s K9.  The loaded firearm used in the crime was recovered from the stop, as well as property taken from the victims.  Mariano is a convicted felon and prohibited from possessing both firearms and ammunition.  He also claimed membership to a Los Angeles based street gang.

Mariano was booked for the following violations:  3 counts of 211 PC (Robbery), 3 counts of 245(a)(2) PC (Assault with a Firearm), 459 PC (Burglary), 182(a)(1) PC (Conspiracy), 186.22(b)(1)(B) PC (Street Terrorism), 29800(a)(1) PC (Felon in Possession of a Firearm), 30305(a)(1) PC (Felon in Possession of Ammunition), 25400(a)(1) PC (Carry Concealed Firearm in a Vehicle), and 148(a)(1) PC (Resist, Obstruct, Delay of a Peace Officer).  He is currently in custody and his bail was set at $1,000,000.
