Pomona Police Supports Breast Cancer Awareness

October is “Breast Cancer Awareness Month.” The Pomona Police Department supports the fight against breast cancer and will again participate in the Pink Patch Project. The Pink Patch Project is an innovative public awareness campaign designed to bring attention to the fight against breast cancer and to support cancer research organizations in combating this devastating disease. It is a collaborative effort between of the Los Angeles County Police Chiefs’ Association and public safety agencies throughout the country and beyond.

Beginning October 1st, you will see Police Department employees wearing pink patches and pink accessories to show their commitment and support of this program. Our goal is to increase awareness about the life saving benefits of early detection and treatment. In addition to public education efforts, we will also be raising funds from the sale of special pink commemorative Pomona PD items that will help fund research, treatment, and education to support those battling the disease.

This year, Pomona Police is pleased to announce a partnership with Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center (PVHMC). All proceeds generated from our fundraising will be presented to the PVHMC Breast Cancer Fund through the Foundation.  We are dedicated to the health and safety of our community.

In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, PVHMC is also offering low cost digital screening mammography for only $50. See the attached flyer for details and a list of locations.

If you would like to purchase your own Pomona PD pink patch, T-shirts, tumblers, or other items, just look for our Pink Patch Booth at community events, or visit the PD Lobby (490 W. Mission Blvd).  You might even see a pink Pomona Police motorcycle out and about!
