FLASH FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT THROUGH SUNDAY NIGHT...
The National Weather Service in Blacksburg has issued a
* Flash Flood Watch for a portion of southeast West Virginia,
including the following areas, Eastern Greenbrier, Mercer,
Monroe, Summers, and Western Greenbrier.
* For Sunday and Sunday night.
* Rain will move from Kentucky into West Virginia today. This rain
is expected to be heavy at times, and may result in Flash
Flooding of small streams and creeks.
* Poor drainage and lowland areas will be most susceptible to
flooding. Ponding of water is likely on roads. Debris from
roadside ditches may also get washed onto area highways.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.
Remember...if water covers the road, TURN AROUND...DON'T DROWN!
You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
