During the month of June 2018, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office and the Oxnard Police Department investigators began receiving information about drug sales and possible illegal firearm manufacturing occurring at a residence in the 3200 block of Taffrail Lane. The Sheriff’s Office and the Oxnard Police Department concluded a joint investigation which led to the seizure of an assault rifle, high capacity magazine, ammunition, a handgun, and gun/assault rifle pieces and manufacturing parts. Colin Jones was arrested for being a felon in possession of a firearm, felon in possession of ammunition, and for being in possession of a short barreled rifle. Additional gun violation charges are still pending for additional persons involved as the investigation is still ongoing. On September 19, 2018 at approximately 7:00 AM, Oxnard Police Department SWAT, Ventura County Sheriff’s Office Special Crimes Unit and Sheriff’s Gang Unit executed a search warrant at the residence. The search resulted in numerous items of evidence including the seizure of a Glock 17 pistol, prescription medication, ammunition, and various items related to the illegal manufacturing of firearms. Additionally, evidence related to the illegal cultivation and production of opium was discovered. The investigation into the cultivation and production of opium is ongoing. The investigation into the illegal transfer of firearms and firearm manufacturing is ongoing and pending further forensic analysis. Ayala was arrested for a felony warrant for possession of controlled substance for sale. Ayala is currently in custody with no bail. Kyle Jones was arrested for being under the influence of a controlled substance. Kyle Jones is currently out on bail. Colin Jones was arrested for being a felon in possession of a firearm, felon in possession of ammunition, and possession of a short barreled rifle. Colin Jones is currently in custody with bail set at $50,000.00. Harnden was arrested for being under the influence of a controlled substance. Harnden is currently in custody with bail set at $40,000. Larussi was arrested for being under the influence of a controlled substance. Larussi is currently out on bail. |
