NARRATIVE:
On Tuesday, September 18th at 11:44am, the Pomona Police Department Patrol Division received a call about a possible fire in a residential area. On arrival, the Officers found a downed power line that led to 1055 Groff St.
As the Officers were conducting a safety check of the address, they found what appeared to be a vacant house. A strong odor of marijuana was emitting from an open window. As the Officers continued the safety check, they observed the clear signs of a marijuana grow at the location. The Special Investigations Unit was contacted.
The Investigators responded and assessed the location. A search warrant was obtained and executed by the team. Inside, the team found a medium sized indoor marijuana grow. The location was processed and more than 500 marijuana plants were recovered. The City of Pomona prohibits large commercial cannabis growing, with the limits of no more than 6 plants at a residence.
The home was red-tagged as unsafe to occupy and the electricity was disconnected by Southern California Edison to prevent the possible fire.
