Update: Sketch Released in Weekend Street Robbery

Police are looking for information that will lead them to two men responsible for a street robbery that occurred over the weekend. Two women were pushed to the ground and robbed on Kingsley Avenue. The suspect and getaway driver are at large.

On Saturday, September 15, 2018, our 24-hour dispatch center received a call at 1:42 p.m. that a street robbery had occurred two minutes prior in the 400 block of Kingsley Avenue. Officers arrived on scene and interviewed the victims, a woman in her fifties and her daughter who is in her twenties.

The investigation revealed that the women were walking westbound on Kingsley Avenue approaching Waverley Street when they heard someone yelling. The mother reported seeing a man with a bandana covering his face running toward her daughter. The mother put her arms around her daughter to shield her, but the man used his body and ran into them. Both were knocked to the ground. The suspect then jumped into a dark or red- colored sedan which was driven by a second male suspect. It was last seen traveling southbound on Waverley Street. When they stood up, the mother realized her purse had been stolen. The mother and daughter suffered minor abrasions, but declined medical attention.

The victims described the first suspect as a dark-skinned man who was either black or Polynesian, in his mid-twenties, approximately six feet tall weighing 200 pounds. He was wearing a dark shirt, khaki-colored shorts and his face was covered with a red bandana. The victim described the driver as being dark skinned and wearing a red bandana across his face. One of the victims was able to meet with a police artist resulting in this sketch.

Detectives are actively investigating this case. At this point, investigators do not believe this case is related to two other street robberies that occurred on August 21 and September 10.
