...FLASH FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM 10 AM EDT THIS MORNING
THROUGH LATE TONIGHT...

The National Weather Service in Sterling Virginia has expanded
the

* Flash Flood Watch to include portions of Maryland, The 
District of Columbia, Virginia, and panhandle West Virginia, 
including the following areas, in Maryland, Carroll, Central 
and Southeast Howard, Central and Southeast Montgomery, 
Frederick MD, Northern Baltimore, Northwest Harford, Northwest 
Howard, Northwest Montgomery, Southern Baltimore, and 
Washington. The District of Columbia. In Virginia, 
Arlington/Falls Church/Alexandria, Clarke, Culpeper, Eastern 
Loudoun, Fairfax, Frederick VA, Northern Fauquier, Orange, 
Prince William/Manassas/Manassas Park, Southern Fauquier, 
Warren, and Western Loudoun. In panhandle West Virginia, 
Berkeley, Jefferson, and Morgan.

* From 10 AM EDT this morning through late tonight

* Moderate to locally heavy rain will overspread the area today.
The steadiest rain may move out of the area by late this
afternoon, but additional showers and isolated thunderstorms are
likely tonight. More locally heavy rain is possible during this
time. 

* Average rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected, with
locally higher amounts likely. Due to the wet summer, this
amount of rain may result in rapid rises of water on creeks and
streams as well as urban areas, especially if several intense
showers track across the same area.

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
