On September 14, 2018, at 9:11 a.m. Gibson County Central Dispatch received a report of a possible intoxicated driver at the Marathon Fastbreak in Fort Branch, Indiana. Fort Branch Chief Rick Sides observed a Maroon 2011 Kia pull out of the lot and onto US 41 and attempted to stop the vehicle. However the vehicle did not stop till near dead man’s curve. At that point Deputy Jennifer Loesch and Deputy U.B. Smith arrived on scene. Deputy Loesch began a roadside DUI investigation that resulted in the driver 30 year old Ruth Bird of LaGrange, Kentucky being taken into custody and transported to the Gibson County Jail. Upon arriving at the Gibson County Jail Ms. Bird was charged with Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated. She has since posted a $1300 bond.

All Criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until, and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
