On July 13, 2018, at approximately 7:52 PM, two juveniles were captured on the Petaluma High School video surveillance systems stealing a golf cart parked on campus in the area of the gymnasium and crashed it into an exterior wall of a classroom. The juvenile suspects significantly damaged the golf cart and the replacement cost was estimated at $4,000.
On September 13, 2018 during the investigation of an unrelated incident the School Resource Officer assigned to Petaluma High School developed information leading to the identification of one of the two juvenile suspects involved in this crime. The juvenile suspect was interviewed and admitted to taking the golf cart. The juvenile was arrested for a violation of 594(b)(1) PC, felony vandalism and booked into Sonoma County Juvenile Hall. The juvenile suspect is not being identified due to their age. The second involved juvenile is still unknown at this time and the investigation is ongoing.
