Notice-Potential Weather Event 
NOTICE TO THE PUBLIC REGARDING A POTENTIAL WEATHER EVENT
Due to the possible arrival of heavy rain beginning sometime on Sunday and lasting through Monday, the Emergency Services Community wants you to be aware of the potential for flooding and/or mudslides in your area. Rainfall in the range of 6 to 10 inches is expected to impact Polk County with a possibility of 20 inches in some places.
Because of our experience with the mudslides and flooding in May of this year, we want to make you aware of the situation so that you can make plans for your family while you have time and options.
A shelter will be opened at 3PM on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at the Polk County Middle School on Wolverine Drive in Mill Spring, North Carolina.
You are urged to call 211 for further information regarding shelters.
Please be advised that we believe this threat to be real and urge you to respond quickly.
