Subject: Burglary Suspects Arrested
Location: 1800 block of Oak Avenue, Manhattan Beach, CA 90266
On Thursday, September 13, 2018 at approximately 4:45 am, MBPD received a call of a residential burglary that just occurred. A resident in the 1800 block of Oak Avenue was notified by their Ring video security system that an unknown subject had entered their garage. The resident called 911 and MBPD quickly responded.
While responding to the call, a MBPD sergeant observed a vehicle leaving the residential area. The sergeant initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle for vehicle code violations. Other officers responded to the address on Oak Avenue. After interviewing the victim and reviewing the Ring video security system, officers noted the suspect description matched one of the subjects who was stopped for the traffic violation.
After further investigation into the subjects being detained at the traffic stop, officers observed stolen property from the victim on Oak Avenue located inside the vehicle. Two females and one male were arrested for residential burglary. It was determined the suspects removed items, including the garage door opener, from the victim’s unlocked vehicle. The suspects activated the garage door opener and entered the victim’s garage.
MBPD wants to remind everyone to lock their vehicles and homes to help prevent crimes like this from occurring. We also encourage those who have video surveillance systems to register them with MBPD at www.citymb.info/departments/police-department/security-camera-registration
