Advisory

Hurricane Florence Activity - We are preparing for the hurricane and asking the public to prepare as well.

As the coastal areas are being evacuated we are anticipating higher than normal traffic in the area. Saluda County Sheriff's Office is closely monitoring the storm and preparation is taking place to ensure the safety of all citizens. At this time we are asking the public to understand with all the forecast given this storm has been unpredictable. We feel that everyone should be prepared for the high-winds and rainfall that is expected to be produced by Hurricane Florence. Loose objects can become dangerous projectiles during high winds. You may want to scan your yard and surroundings and make sure that all loose items are removed and placed indoors. This can include trampolines, yard furniture, garden statue and trashcans. You also may want to have bottled water, first aid kit, battery-powered or hand crank radio, flashlights and a whistle in case you need to signal for help. There may also be prolonged power outages in the area due to the high-winds and flooding. Please do not attempt to drive in high-winds or flooded roadway conditions. For emergencies call 911 or Saluda County Sheriff's Office at (864) 445-2112.
