INCIDENT:                Shots Fired/Murder Investigation
 
LOCATION:             26800 block of Hillview Street, Highland    
 
VICTIM:                     Michael Spinks, age 26 a resident of Highland  
 
SUSPECT:                Lonnie Cover, age 24 a resident of Highland
                       
SUMMARY:
On Monday, September 10^th at approximately 11:27 pm, deputies from the Highland Police Department responded to an apartment in the 26800 block of Hillview Street following the report of a shooting.  Upon arrival, deputies located the victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.  Emergency medical personnel responded to the location and transported the victim to a local area hospital.  The victim, Michael Spinks, was pronounced deceased at the hospital at approximately 12:05 am.
 
Investigators from the Specialized Investigations Division-Homicide Detail responded to the scene and are conducting the investigation. 
 
Through investigation, the suspect was identified to be Lonnie Cover.   Investigators determined that the suspect had been with the victim at his residence before the shooting.  Cover was arrested, transported and booked into the Central Detention Center for PC 187 Murder.
