TEEN DIES MONTHS AFTER SHOOTING

Modesto, CA – A Modesto teen has been pronounced dead after being shot this summer in southwest Modesto. Detectives have deemed his death a homicide and need the public’s help to solve the case.

On May 2nd, at about 11:30 PM, police were called to the 600 block of Roselawn Avenue to investigate the report of a male who had been shot. When they arrived they found two teen shooting victims. A 16-year-old male received serious injuries, however they were not believed to be life threatening. The 13-year-old male victim, now 14 years old, was released from the hospital after the shooting incident.

Detectives believed that the 14-year-old was expected to survive his injuries, but he was transported to Children’s Hospital in Madera in recent weeks for treatment for complications as a result of the shooting. He succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday, December 23rd.

Police received preliminary information suggesting that the two shooting victims were in a white 4-door vehicle near the intersection of Vicksburg and Rouse Streets when they were shot. The victims said two males, wearing dark clothing, are responsible for the shooting. After the shooting the victims drove to the 600 block of Roselawn Avenue where police were called.
Detectives believe this was a gang related incident.

In these types of cases it is common to experience difficulty obtaining detailed statements from involved victims and witnesses which creates greater challenges for detectives intent upon bringing those responsible to justice.
