Subject: PI M60 and Calvin Center

2 Injured in Crash

Sheriff Richard J. Behnke reports that on 09/07/2018 at 1459 Hours his office was called to investigate a personal injury crash that occurred on M60 and Calvin Center in Penn Township, Cass County Michigan. 33 yr old, Marcellus resident, Daniel Wences, was east bound on M60 when a vehicle driven by 29 yr old, Elkhart resident, Leon Myrick, failed to stop at the stop sign on Calvin Center Rd and pulled out in front of him. The collision caused Mr. Wences vehicle to incur minor damage. His wife Ashley Wence complained of minor head pain and was treated at the scene and released by Ambulance personnel to received an further treatment on her own. Myrick had two passengers in the vehicle at the time of the crash. Stephanie Waldron, 23, of Elkhart, In. and Bryan Waldron, 24, of Elkhart, In. were in Myrick's vehicle but were uninjured at the time of the crash. Mr. Myrick passed out in the driver seat shortly after Fire personnel arrived on scene and had to be revived using Narcan and CPR. Myrick admitted to using Herion prior to passing out. Mr. Myrick was taken by ambulance to Elkhart General Hospital for treatment. Alcohol and drugs are believed to be a factor in this crash and seat belts were used. This case remains under investigation.



Assisting were Penn Township Fire Department, Life Care Ambulance, and Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians Police Department.
