Flash Flood Watch until 12:00AM Thursday

Copious amounts of tropical moisture already streaming into the area will become increasingly enhanced by the eventual track of Potential Tropical Cyclone SEVEN. This system is anticipated to become a tropical storm later today, while tracking towards the central Gulf Coast region through the middle of the week. The National Weather Service in New Orleans has issued a

* Flash Flood Watch FOR portions of southeast Louisiana and Mississippi, including the following areas, in southeast Louisiana, Ascension, Assumption, East Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, Iberville, Livingston, Lower Jefferson, Lower Lafourche, Lower Plaquemines, Lower St. Bernard, Lower Terrebonne, Northern Tangipahoa, Orleans, Pointe Coupee, Southern Tangipahoa, St. Charles, St. Helena, St. James, St. John The Baptist, St. Tammany, Upper Jefferson, Upper Lafourche, Upper Plaquemines, Upper St. Bernard, Upper Terrebonne, Washington, West Baton Rouge, and West Feliciana. In Mississippi, Amite, Hancock, Harrison, Jackson, Pearl River, Pike, Walthall, and Wilkinson.

* General accumulations of 3 to 6 inches with locally higher amounts in bands through Wednesday evening. Rain rates at times exceeding 2 inches per hour for durations of 30 to 60 minutes.

* Rapid rises of area creeks and streams, along with ponding of water in low lying and poorly drained areas. Drainage systems that rely on gravity may be hampared by higher than normal tides.
