Today, at about 11 a.m., San Mateo Police Officers responded to the 500 block of 1^st Av on a report of a domestic disturbance. When officers arrived, the victim told them that her boyfriend, 23-year-old German Alvarado, threatened her with a firearm. Alvarado was quickly located in the area seated in his vehicle and he refused multiple commands to exit the vehicle. San Mateo Police Crisis Negotiations Team (CNT) officers were on-scene and immediately began negotiations with Alvarado. After approximately an hour and a half, CNT officers were able to successfully negotiate Alvarado to step out of the vehicle where he was safely taken into custody. Alvarado was found to be in possession of a loaded firearm. Alvarado was consequently booked into county jail for Criminal Threats, Brandishing a Firearm, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, and Possession of a High Capacity Magazine.
