Deputies arrest Sonoma man after pointing replica handgun at store clerk

Sonoma County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested a 26-year-old Sonoma man after he pulled a replica handgun on a store clerk and pulled the trigger.  The incident began at about 9:40 AM Sunday when suspect, Briant Perez Perez walked into the La Favorito Market in the 17400 block of Highway 12 in Boyes Hot Springs attempting to cash a check.

The clerk noticed the check was made out to a business with a name similar to Wine Country Tours and didn’t look right. She refused to cash his check and Perez Perez became upset. As he exited the store he pulled out what appeared to be a real handgun, pointed it at the clerk and pulled the trigger several times. It only made a clicking noise and didn’t fire. Perez Perez, who was unknown to the store clerk, fled the scene.

Responding deputies conducted an investigation and were able to view surveillance footage of the crime and obtained a photo of the suspect. A deputy observed a business nearby was called Wine Country Tires. When he entered the business the deputy was greeted by Perez Perez who was immediately cooperative and turned over the check that was made out to his employer.

The deputy arrested Perez Perez and located the replica firearm at his residence, which was to the rear of the tire store. Perez Perez was booked into the Sonoma County Jail and charged with a misdemeanor brandishing a replica firearm and a probation violation. He has since been released after posting $1000 bail.
