Deputies investigate a vehicle vs pedestrian collision on Baseline St. near Central Ave.

VICTIM(S): Juan Camacho, 59 year old resident of Highland
SUMMARY:
On Saturday, August 25, 2018, at around 8:45 p.m., deputies assigned to the Highland Police Department responded to a traffic collision near the intersection of Baseline Street and Central Avenue. Deputies learned a pedestrian was crossing Baseline Street and was struck by a vehicle. The driver of the vehicle stopped and pulled over. He was interviewed and released afterwards. The pedestrian, Juan Camacho, was transported to a local hospital with major injuries and is in critical condition.
Investigators from the Highland Police Department are investigating the accident. The cause of the collision is under investigation. The Sheriff's Department would like to remind the public to use a marked crosswalk or cross at an intersection with a traffic control signal when crossing the roadway.
