On Tuesday, August 7, 2018, at approximately 3:24 a.m. a male subject was seen on a resident’s surveillance video trying vehicle door handles on Hermes Street in Simi Valley. Luckily the doors were locked on both vehicles and no property was stolen. The link to the video is: https://ring.com/share/6586922777577835822.
The Simi Valley Police Department is asking the public’s help in identifying this individual. Remember to stay vigilant. Here are some simple preventative steps that you can take to avoid becoming a crime victim:
• Always lock your vehicle doors – unlocked doors are the number one way thieves get into vehicles in Simi Valley.
• Be aware of your surroundings. Report any suspicious activity. If you see it report it!
• Leave your exterior lights on throughout the night, or install motion detector lighting. Additional lighting may make a prowler or thief more visible.
• If you park on the street, choose a well-lit area and trim back any trees and/or bushes that may block your view of your vehicle.
• Always remove the keys, roll up the windows, don’t leave wallets and purses inside your vehicle unattended.
