The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office received a call of a missing 29-year-old San Francisco man yesterday around 8:40 PM. The caller reported that he was vacationing in a vacation rental home in the 15600 block of Riverside Dr. Guerneville with his ex-husband and several other friends all weekend.
The missing man didn’t show up for dinner and the friends became concerned for his welfare. They looked for him but were unable to find him. They did find his flip flops and tee shirt at a dock on the edge of the Russian River and his cellular phone was in the home.
Deputies searched the surrounding area last night and were unable to locate the missing man. At about 11:00 AM the Sheriff’s Volunteer Search and Rescue dive team, aided by the Russian River and Monte Rio Fire Departments, swam the Russian River near the docks in the 15600 block of Riverside Dr. in Guerneville. The man’s body was found in about 12-15 feet of water at about noon.
The Coroner’s Office has been called and will investigate the death. His identity is not being released at this time.
