Harris County Sheriff’s Office District 1 patrol deputies uncovered a marijuana grow house after the suspect fled from a traffic stop.

A deputy observed a blue colored Hyundai with an equipment violation in the 7500 block of Silent Wood lane in the Willowood subdivision this morning around 12:05 a.m.

The driver, 26-year-old Devin Jamal Westmoreland fled from the deputy after he activated his emergency lights.

Westmoreland drove south on Desert Flower and turned onto Bubbling Springs.

He then pulled into an open garage at his family’s residence located in the 7600 block of Bubbling Springs.

Westmoreland then bailed from the vehicle along with a female juvenile passenger, and ran inside the residence.

Deputies followed the pair into the home, where the 16-year old female passenger was caught.

While deputies were searching the homes backyard for Westmoreland, they observed a small shed with the interior lights on.

Deputies observed over two dozen marijuana plants that were growing in the shed. More plants were found in a closet located in the home.

Investigators with the HCSO Narcotics Task Force confiscated the marijuana, along with several weapons found in the residence.

A search of the surrounding area by deputies and aided by K9 personnel was unable to locate Westmoreland.

He now faces felony evading in a motor vehicle and felon in possession.

Further charges for the seized marijuana plants are anticipated.

The juvenile female was charged with evading detention and released.
