Heat Advisory in Effect through Friday afternoon for portions of the NYC metro.

WHERE: NYC, Nassau and southern Westchester counties, and portions of northeast NJ.

WHEN: Through Friday afternoon, with the highest heat indices each afternoon.

Potential Hazards and Impacts:

Excessive Heat:

Hazards:

* Max Temperatures of 90-95.
* Max Heat Indices mid to upper 90s.

Impacts:

* The heat and humidity may cause heat stress during outdoor exertion or extended exposure.
* Extreme heat can cause illness and death among the at-risk population who can not stay cool.
* Seniors, infants, and those with chronic health problems or mental health conditions are at an increased risk from the heat.
