Officers respond to two shootings on August 14th, one suspect arrested and one suspect is at large

On 08-14-18 at 4:40 PM Officers responded to 822 E. Walnut St for a report of shots fired. In the investigation, Officers learned that a shooting had occurred at 812 E. Walnut St. Officers quickly set up a perimeter around these residences and had recovered spent shell casings from a 9mm handgun. They also located a vehicle that had bullet holes in it that was later towed to the police department. Our department Forensics unit and several detectives were called in to process the crime scene, collect all the physical evidence, collect witness statements, and locate video surveillance.

As the investigation continued, Officers learned that a second shooting had previously occurred at the Laundromat at 300 S. Webster Ave and a disturbance outside the Laundromat involving weapons occurred before the shooting on Walnut St. Officers responded to the Laundromat and located a bullet hole in the wall. Officers quickly established this as a crime scene and were relaying information back to the officers on Walnut St.

As both crime scenes were being investigated, Green Bay Rescue was dispatched to a residence in the 1100 BLK of Doty for a male that had injuries consistent with a gunshot wound. The victim was later determined to be a juvenile. He was provided medical treatment and later released.

Officers and Investigators spoke with the juvenile victim and located witnesses to the shooting. In addition, investigators recovered valuable video surveillance that captured the shooting from the Laundromat. Using the video surveillance and witness statements, investigators worked late into the night to identify the suspect shooter as Michael Stevenson Jones, a 22 year old Green Bay resident. See attached photo (suspect with orange shirt).

The investigation continued this morning and investigators were able to gather intel that Mr. Jones was possibly at a residence on Beech Tree Dr. on the west side of the city. Officers and Investigators responded to that house and were able to convince Mr. Jones to surrender to officers. Officers and investigators recovered the gun used in the shooting at the laundromat. Mr. Jones is in custody and will be will recommending charges to the Brown County District Attorney. Investigators are working to determine the exact charges and we anticipate that Mr. Jones will be in court tomorrow.

The shooting investigation at 812 E. Walnut is ongoing. Investigators believe the shootings are connected and the suspects involved are associates of one another. The motive of the shootings is still being determined. At this point, these shootings are a result/retaliation from an earlier disturbance.

Investigators believe the shooter on E. Walnut St is Trevon Massey, a 22 year old Green Bay resident. (See attached photo suspect wearing a black shirt). Investigators consider Mr. Massey armed and dangerous and will be working through the day and weeks to locate and apprehend him.

Anyone with information pertaining to the whereabouts of Mr. Massey and these shootings is urged to contact the Green Bay PD at 448-3208.
