HCSO Vehicular Crimes Investigators Charge Local Man With Murder.

Harris County Sheriff’s Office Vehicular Crimes Units have charged a 57 year-old man with murder, after causing the death of his accomplice in a traffic accident while fleeing from a burglary they had committed.

Investigators say that Michael W Shelton, and 50-year-old Mario Creasy were burglarizing a newly constructed home at 7219 Foxtail Meadow Court on Saturday, August 11, 2018.

A witness, an employee of a building contractor called 911 and reported the theft.

Shelton and Creasy fled the residence after loading a microwave and other items into a 2003 Ford Expedition.

The witness began following the suspects.

Shelton who was operating the Expedition began to accelerate and drive erratically while trying to flee the witness.

In the 6200 block of FM 1960, Shelton was driving at a high rate of speed down the center median through the intersection of Cypresswood and FM 1960.

Shelton ran the red light and swerved to avoid striking turning traffic that had a green signal. He lost control and slid broadside into east bound traffic.
Shelton's vehicle then struck a Chevrolet Silverado driven by a 47-year old man and his 50-year old male passenger.

Creasy was lifeflighted to Memorial Hermann Hospital, where he later died of his injuries from the crash.

Shelton was transported in critical but stable condition and is expected to make a full recovery.

The two men in the Silverado were transported to Houston Northwest Medical Center in stable condition.

HCSO Vehicular Crimes investigators presented evidence that Shelton had fled during the commission of a felony and causing the death of his accomplice.

Harris County District Attorney's Office Prosecutor's accepted the charge of murder on Shelton.

Defendant Shelton is being held on a $100,000 bond in the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Detention facility.
