Narrative:

The Camarillo Police Special Enforcement Detail and Camarillo Patrol services arrested Michael Patterson for manufacturing drug paraphernalia, possession of illegal drugs for the purpose of sales, and being a prohibited person in possession of firearms and ammunition.

On August 9th 2018, detectives with the Camarillo Police Special Enforcement Detail (SED) were driving in the 700 block of Biscayne Avenue when they observed a male subject they recognized as Michael Patterson standing in front of his residence. SED investigators were aware Patterson had a misdemeanor warrant for his arrest and subsequently arrested him for the warrant and for being under the influence of a controlled substance.  During the course of that arrest, detectives conducted a probation search at Patterson’s residence and observed glass making items that indicated Patterson was manufacturing glass pipes used to ingest illegal drugs.

On August 10th 2018, based upon the results of this investigation and Patterson’s arrest, the Camarillo Police Special Enforcement Detail and Camarillo Patrol services served a search warrant at Patterson’s residence. During a search of his residence, detectives located approximately 1 ounce of heroin, 16 grams of methamphetamine, 7.2 grams of psilocybin (mushrooms), amounts of a substance which detectives believe is lysergic acid diethylamide (also known as LSD) and five hundred dollars in cash. Other evidence located in Patterson’s residence indicated the illegal drugs were possessed for the purpose of sales. Detectives also seized a large amount of glass making equipment being utilized to manufacture glass smoking pipes. Many of these pipes were the type used to ingest illegal drugs, such as methamphetamine. Glass smoking pipes were also located inside the residence that contained a residue consistent with the pipe being used to smoke controlled substances.  In addition to the illegal drugs, detectives seized 1 rifle, 2 handguns and over 150 rounds of ammunition from the residence.

Patterson was booked into the Ventura County Pre-Trial Detention Facility for the misdemeanor failure to appear warrant, 11550(a) HS / Under the influence of a controlled substance, 11351 HS / Possession of a controlled substance for sales, 11378 HS / Possession of a controlled substance for sales, 11364.7(b) HS / Manufacture drug paraphernalia and 30305(a) (1) PC / Possession of ammunition by a prohibited person. Patterson’s bail is set at $50,000 and he has a pending court date on 08/14/18 in Ventura County Superior Court.
