ATTENTION SAN MARINO PARENTS… School is once again almost here. See some safety tips from SMPD.
ATTENTION SAN MARINO PARENTS…
The San Marino Police Department would like to extend to you and your family a warm “welcome back” as you hit the streets for the beginning of the school year. As a reminder, please follow these simple safety tips as you or your child drives, bikes or walks to school.
First, make sure to share the road and the parking lots. There will be many of you out there so it’s important to follow the “rules of the road” so everyone arrives at their destination safely. Watch out for pedestrians!
If your child rides a bicycle or walks to school, please remind him or her not to assume the driver sees them and to be cautious around all vehicles regardless of who has the right of way. Also, all children riding a bicycle should wear a properly fitted bicycle helmet. For more information see the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration publication “Easy Steps to Properly Fit a Bicycle Helmet.
While this message is geared toward traffic safety it is important to note, if you or your child sees a person or vehicle that seems suspicious or out of place, report it immediately to a school official or the police department. See something, say something… and stay safe.
