UPDATE: Detectives identify and arrest the second suspect involved in a Baker's armed robbery

SUSPECT(S): Joseph Montes, age 23 a resident of San Bernardino; Robert King, age 45 a resident of San Bernardino
VICTIM(S): Baker's Drive-Thru

On August 8, 2018, Detectives and Deputy Casey continued the investigation regarding the armed robbery. They were able to identify the second suspect, who was the driver of the vehicle. He was identified as Robert King. Detectives located King in San Bernardino and he was taken into custody without incident. He was arrested for PC 211- Robbery and booked into Central Detention Center.
Deputies from the Highland Police Department responded to an armed robery at the Baker's Drive-Thru restaurant. Montes entered the restaraunt with a semi-automatic handgun and demanded money from the employees. Fearing for their safety, the employees complied with Montes. He took the money and ran out of the business to a vehicle and fled from the scene. Upon arriving, deputies determined the suspect(s) fled from the scene before they arrived. The initiial investigation was handled by Deputy C. Olivas. Deputy Olivas gathered crucial information during the investigation and forwarded it on to the detectives at the station. Joseph Montes was identified as the primary suspect in the crime.
On August 6, 2018, detectives located Montes in San Bernardino. He was taken into custody without incident. He was arrested for PC 211-Robbery and booked at the West Valley Detention Center. Montes was convicted of residential robbery in 2015. He was sentenced to state prison. At the time of his arrest, he was on active parole for residential robbery. He will face new charges of Armed Robbery (with a firearm). The San Bernardino County District Attorney's Office will review the criminal case against Montes and may file additional felony charges. Detectives are releasing a recent photograph of the suspect to alert other possible victims who may have had contact with the suspect.
