Severe Thunderstorm Warning until 05:15PM

The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for... Southeastern McDowell County in western North Carolina... Southwestern Burke County in western North Carolina...

* Until 515 PM EDT.

* At 429 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 7 miles east of Marion, or 4 miles southeast of Lake James State Park, moving east at 10 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and half dollar size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Minor hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to trees and power lines.

* Locations impacted include... Morganton, Glen Alpine, Lake James State Park, South Mountains State Park, Nebo and Dysartsville.

* AFFECTED AREAS: MCDOWELL, NC ... BURKE, NC

Instructions:

A few trees and power lines will be blown down in the warned area. Hail can cause major property damage, especially to vehicles. Seek shelter inside an interior room. This storm is producing frequent and intense lightning. Turn off electrical appliances. Do not use corded telephones. Do not take a bath or shower.
