HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT THROUGH 6PM THIS EVENING. HEAT INDICES MID 90-100.EXTREME HEAT CAN CAUSE ILLNESS AN DEATH AMONG AT RISK POPULATION

Heat Advisory in Effect

WHERE: The entire Tri-State area except for eastern Suffolk County on Long Island.

WHEN: Through 6pm this evening.

Potential Hazards and Impacts:

Hazards:
• Max Temperatures in the upper 80s to lower 90s.
• Max Heat Indices in the mid 90s to around 100.
Impacts:
• The heat and humidity may cause heat stress during outdoor exertion or extended exposure.
• Extreme heat can cause illness and death among the at-risk population who can not stay cool.
• Seniors, infants, and those with chronic health problems or mental health conditions are at an increased risk from the heat.
