Malibu Station Traffic Investigators are investigating the circumstances of a fatal traffic collision near the intersection of Pacific Coast Highway and Trancas Canyon Road in the city of Malibu on Friday, August 03, 2018 at approximately 12:08 A.M.
Preliminary investigation at the scene indicates the driver of the gray Mercury minivan was traveling westbound on Pacific Coast Highway at a high rate of speed and attempted to pass another vehicle. In doing so, the driver lost control of the minivan and crossed over the center divider colliding head on with the red Dodge Ram truck.
Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger of the truck was airlifted to a local hospital in stable condition. A nearby bicyclist also sustained minor injuries from flying debris and was transported by ambulance to a local hospital.
