Flood Advisory until 11:45AM

The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has issued a

* Flood Advisory for... McDowell County in western North Carolina... Northwestern Burke County in western North Carolina...

* Until 1145 AM EDT.

* At 844 AM EDT, Emergency management reported developing high water conditions and elevated stream levels throughout the upper Catawba Basin after several days of heavy rain. With ongoing rainfall this morning, stream and river levels will continue to rise, and developing above bankfull conditions will be likely especially along the North Fork Catawba and the headwaters of Linville River.

* Some locations that may experience flooding include... Marion, Old Fort, Lake James State Park, Table Rock, Linville Falls, Lake James, Nebo, Pleasant Gardens, Ashford and Woodlawn.

* AFFECTED AREAS: MCDOWELL, NC ... BURKE, NC

Instructions:

Heavy rain falling along mountain creeks can cause sudden increases in water flow downstream, even in areas where it is not raining. People participating in outdoor recreation should move away from creeks and small streams.
