THREE IN CUSTODY FOR HOWARD TOWNSHIP ARMED ROBBERY

Cass County Sheriff Richard J Behnke reports that his deputies responded to the Barron Lake area of Howard Township for an armed robbery involving teenage suspects.

On 7/31/2018 at approximately 6:43 Pm, deputies were notified that a robbery had occurred at a residence near Barron Lake. The victim advised deputies that several teenagers who expressed interest in purchasing one of his vehicles had approached him. After a ride in his vehicle one of the suspects produced a handgun and robbed the victim. The victim complied with the demands and all three suspects fled on foot.

With the assistance of Sheriff K9 Faust, deputies were able to track the suspects to a residence on Huntly Rd where all three were taken into custody. The oldest of the three, a 17-year-old male from Niles, was lodged in the Cass County Jail. The other two subjects, aged 16 and 15 years, were transported to a juvenile facility.

Deputies executed a search warrant at the address where the suspects were taken into custody and recovered two handguns.
