On July 30, 2018, at 6:44 p.m. Special Deputy Zach Lienemann observed three cars stopped on State Road 64 near County Road 400 West. Upon approaching the vehicles one of the vehicles left the area. As Deputy Lienemann approached the other vehicles the drivers of those vehicles advised that the third vehicle had driven off the roadway and into a cornfield. The other motorists told Deputy Lienemann that they had simply stopped to make sure that the driver was ok. Deputy Lienemann then followed the vehicle that had left the scene and initiated a traffic stop. Upon approaching the vehicle Deputy Lienemann detected the odor of alcohol coming from the driver 67 year old Rita Nash of Mount Carmel. At that point with the assistance of Deputy Jennifer Robb Deputy Lienemann conducted a roadside DUI investigation. At the conclusion of his investigation Ms. Nash was placed in custody and transported to the Gibson County Jail. Upon arriving Ms. Nash was charged with Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated. She has since posted a $750 bond.
