The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.

July 26th

0658 Hours: Officer D. Johnson contacted and arrested a 26-year-old transient male for his outstanding warrant during a pedestrian stop on Spruce Street at the railroad tracks. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

0859 Hours: Officer Fredstrom contacted and arrested a 40-year-old transient female for probation violation and obstructing a Police Officer during a pedestrian stop on the 34900 block of Newark Boulevard. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

1004 Hours: Officer Herbert contacted and arrested a 45-year-old Hayward male for possession of a Nunchaku during a routine traffic stop on Stevenson Boulevard. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

1200 Hours: Officer Khairy investigated an auto burglary on the 39100 block of Cedar Boulevard. The loss is a backpack that contained a camera and other items.

2242 Hours: Officer Taylor investigated an auto burglary on the 5600 block of Mowry Avenue. The loss is a MacBook Pro.

July 27th

0756 Hours: Officer Fredstrom contacted and arrested a 34-year-old Fremont for possession of a controlled substance during a pedestrian stop on the 3000 block of Newpark Mall Road. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

1331 Hours: Officers responded to Kentucky Fried Chicken, 5724 Thornton Avenue on a report of an unwanted guest. Officers contacted and arrested a 26-year-old Newark male for possession of drug paraphernalia, probation violation and obstructing a Police Officer. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

1947 hours: Officer Rivas investigated a theft from a locker at 24 Hour Fitness, NewPark Mall. The loss is clothes, car keys and driver license.

2232 hours: Officers responded to a disturbance on the 6200 block of Mayhews Landing Road. A 46-year-old Newark male was contacted and arrested for violation of a court order and probation violation. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

0136 hours: Officer Hunter contacted and arrested a 40-year-old San Jose female for driving under the influence during a traffic stop on Thornton Avenue at Dutra Way. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

July 28th

0918 Hours: Officer Wallace contacted and arrested a 21-year-old Newark female for possession of a controlled substance while performing a security check on the 37200 block of Magnolia Street. The suspect was issued a citation and released at the scene.

1020 Hours: Officers Riddles and Wallace contacted and arrested a 35-year-old Newark female for her outstanding warrants and obstructing a Police Officer during a pedestrian stop on the 6900 block of Thornton Avenue. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

1857 hours: Officers responded to a theft at S&A Collectibles, NewPark Mall. A 30-year-old San Leandro male was contacted and arrested for receiving stolen property. The suspect was issued a citation and released. A 29-year-old Hayward female was arrested for theft of personal property and for an outstanding warrant. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

0001 hours: Officers responded to a roll over vehicle collision on the 36300 block of Haley Street. The solo occupant claimed they fell asleep at the wheel and awoke after crashing into two parked vehicles and flipping over. The driver was sent to an area hospital due to a complaint of pain injury and subsequently issued a citation for driving under the influence.

July 30th

0718 Hours: Officer Riddles investigated a hit and run accident on the 37100 block of Cherry Street involving four parked cars.

0753 Hours: Officer Jackman contacted and arrested a 36-year-old transient male for violation of a restraining order and probation violation on the 35400 block of Orleans Drive. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

1036 Hours: Officers responded to a disturbance on the 5500 block of Civic Terrace. A 39-year-old transient female was contacted arrested for her outstanding warrants and subsequently booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

1246 Hours: Officers Rivera investigated an auto burglary on the 36300 block of Darvon Street. The loss is unknown at this time.

1507 Hours: Officers responded to a grab and run theft of a customer’s laptop computer at Starbucks, 5741 Stevenson Boulevard. The investigation is ongoing.

1512 Hours: Officer Jackman investigated an auto burglary in the NewPark Mall parking lot. The loss is unknown.

1639 Hours: Officers responded to a disturbance on the 36700 block of Hafner Street. Officer Jackman contacted and arrested a 35-year-old Newark male for disorderly conduct/ being under the influence of alcohol and making criminal threats. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

2008 Hours: Officer Hunter investigated an auto burglary in the NewPark Mall parking lot. The loss is a backpack and Play Station 4.

0454 Hours: Officer San Pedro investigated an attempted burglary at Fusion Storm, 39660 Eureka Drive. The investigation is ongoing.
