CITY, STATE OF RESIDENCE: Whitehall, New York

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:
On Thursday, July 26, 2018 at approximately 4:00 PM, the Whitehall Police Department received a report of a prior domestic disturbance that occurred at a Montcalm Avenue residence. As the investigation initiated, it was reported a subject involved in the domestic disturbance had made threats to harm others reportedly threatening to shoot an involved party, brandishing a firearm to the victim. Patrols responded to the residence to attempt to communicate with the subject and found the subject had barricaded himself inside the residence. Assistance was requested from other area law enforcement agencies, including the New York State Police SORT (Special Operations Response Team). Access to the Montcalm Avenue area was restricted throughout the evening and Officers made personal contact with the residents in the immediate area of the incident, advising them of the situation and requested they relocate to ensure their safety. Following multiple attempts to communicate with the subject, Officers lost contact with the subject and made entry to the residence. The subject was found to have consumed an unknown amount of medication and was able to be subdued and taken into custody following a brief struggle. At approximately 11:59 PM last night the scene was cleared, roadway re-opened and the subject was transported to a local hospital for evaluation of non-life threatening injuries.

Officers recovered two loaded firearms from the residence that were placed near the front window, where Officers observed the subject throughout the incident.

Gordon was released from the hospital this morning, processed and arraigned at the Washington County Centralized Arraignment Court at the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and remanded to the Washington County Correctional Facility for lack of bail.
