Updated Weekend Traffic Pattern for Southwest Hoboken

Due to the ongoing SUEZ Water project in southwest Hoboken, the City of Hoboken recommends entering and exiting Hoboken from the north end this weekend when possible.

In attempt to mitigate traffic issues, Mayor Bhalla has directed crews to break the work up into two phases.

Phase A will begin Friday, July 27 at 8 p.m. and conclude around 2-4 a.m. on Saturday, July 28. Traffic will re-route traffic inbound on Jersey Avenue to Eastbound 18th Street (Jersey City). Traffic with the be released into Hoboken on Grove Street and Marin Streets. Traffic from Newark will be diverted to Harrison Street as well as Observer Highway. Harrison Street will be open to Westbound traffic only.

Phase B will begin Saturday, July 28 at around 2-4 a.m. Harrison Street will be closed southbound at both Paterson Avenue and Observer Highway. Traffic will be diverted to Monroe and onto westbound Newark Street for outbound Hoboken traffic and inbound Jersey City traffic. Grove Street and Marin Street will continue to be both northbound & southbound until operations cease on Saturday evening. Westbound (Only) Newark Street will continue through to Jersey Avenue and outbound to Jersey City.

Additionally, Hoboken residents may notice decreased water pressure or discolored water during this time. The discoloration will be a result of minerals in the system being stirred up. SUEZ Water does not anticipate any cause for concern beyond the appearance of the water.

Thank you for your patience.
