Suspect Arrested from Central Park Homicide

On Friday, July 20, 2018, at approximately 7:18 A.M., Santa Clara police officers responded to Central Park, 909 Kiely Boulevard, on a report of a male with a bloody nose lying on the ground near the duck pond. Officers located the victim and immediately began life saving procedures. Unfortunately, the victim was lifeless and pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim did not have any obvious signs of trauma to his body, however, through further investigation officers became suspicious of the cause and manner of death. Investigators worked late into the night and through the weekend collecting evidence and interviewing friends and associates of the deceased. They learned that the victim was in the company of a co-worker, Gage Taren McCartney. The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s office conducted an autopsy and concluded that the cause of death was homicide.

Suspect McCartney was taken into custody on July 24, 2018 at 6:18 P.M. at his residence. He was subsequently booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail on a charge of Murder.

The victim is identified as Raynard Hyde, an African-American male, 54-years old, and a resident of the City of Campbell.

The suspect is identified as Gage Taren McCartney, a Caucasian male, 25-years old, and a resident of the City of Sunnyvale. A booking photo is provided below.
