El Cerrito Police Blotter July 17th - 22nd

July 17th:

Shoplifting - 11565 San Pablo Ave:
At 1020 hours, an officer responded to the report of a subject attempting to return a price scanner tool he had stolen the night before. He was contacted in the store and found to have additional stolen merchandise in his possession. The subject, a 29-year-old male from Richmond, also dropped a crack pipe when contacted. He was arrested, booked, and then released on a citation.

Auto Burglary - 11344 San Pablo Ave:
At 1117 hours, an officer responded to the report of an auto burglary. During the investigation, officers learned a witness reported seeing an unknown male breaking into the vehicle and stealing property at 1050 hours.

Auto Burglary - School Ave. / S. 55th St:
At 1331 hours, an officer responded to the report of an auto burglary where an unknown suspect shattered the window of a mail truck and stole a backpack and package.

Battery – Atlas Liquors, 11382 San Pablo Ave:
At 1337 hours, an officer responded to the report of a subject being assaulted in front of Atlas Liquors on July 14th. He was admitted to Kaiser this morning in stable condition. He could not provide a good description of the suspect.

Grand Theft – 2000 block of Key Blvd:
Between 2200 hours and 1300 hours on the 17th, a black Mountain bike with orange tires worth an estimated $3000.00 was stolen.

Recovered Stolen Vehicle – S. 45th St / Wall Ave:
At 0237 hours, an officer received a Lo-Jack hit in the area of San Pablo Ave and Manila Ave and followed it to the above location where the victim’s white 1997 Acura Integra was located unoccupied. The vehicle was reported stolen to the Richmond Police Department on 7/17/18.

July 18th:

Shoplifter - 11450 San Pablo Ave:
At 1139 hours, an officer was flagged down regarding a theft just occurred. A 49-year-old Richmond resident ate at the deli and stole other food items as well. He was detained and placed under citizen’s arrest.

Auto Burglary - 11545 San Pablo Ave:
At approximately 1206 hours, officers responded to the report of an auto burglary that just occurred. The suspect was described as an adult, approx. 30-years-old, wearing a black baseball cap, black hooded sweatshirt, and blue jeans. The suspect smashed the window of a vehicle and stole a blue bag and then fled on foot.

Auto Burglary - 670 EC Plaza:
An unidentified suspect smashed the window of a Toyota truck and stole a briefcase and an iPhone.

Petty Theft - 1000 EC Plaza:
At 1243 hours, officers responded to the report of a theft where an unknown female stole a woman’s purse from her shopping cart. The victim chased her to the parking lot, where she got into a vehicle and fled. El Cerrito Detectives located the car and the suspect, a 39-year-old Pinole woman and recovered some of the stolen property. The case will be forwarded to the District Attorney’s Office for review.

Resisting, delaying and obstructing a police officer - San Pablo Ave. / Carlson Blvd:
At 1342 hours, two officers attempted to stop a bicyclist who failed to yield for several blocks. The suspect, a 39-year-old Richmond male, claimed not to know the police were trying to stop him. The man was booked and released on a citation.

Public Intoxication, Battery on a Peace Officer – McBear’s, 10458 San Pablo Ave:
At 2010 hours, officers responded to a vandalism at McBear’s after a patron threw a glass at the bartender and left. Officers located a 62-year-old man from Richmond in front of Little Hong Kong. The man was arrested for public intoxication and transported to the ECPD. At the station, he kicked an officer. The man was released from custody and transported to the hospital due to his level of intoxication.

False Name to Officer, False Personation, Parolee at Large – 11300 block San Pablo Ave:
At 0135 hours, an officer conducted a traffic stop and contacted the driver, a 51-year-old male. The man initially provided a false name with no match. He then provided his brother’s name but when the officer looked at the DMV photo it was clear the man was not being truthful. He was arrested, and a search of the vehicle yielded his wallet and true identity. A records check determined the man was a parolee-at-large. He was arrested, booked at the ECPD, cited on the new charges, and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility on a parole violation.

July 19th:

Shoplifting – Walgreens, 11565 San Pablo Ave:
At 0741 hours, an officer responded to the report of a suspect in black clothing stealing a large quantity of soap.

Threats - Safeway, 11450 San Pablo Ave:
At 0945 hours, officers responded to the report of a subject threatening to hurt employees at Safeway. A 28-year-old Richmond man was located hiding in the BART parking structure. The man was identified by store personnel and placed under citizen's arrest. The man also had a warrant for his arrest as well as being on probation from LA County. He was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Warrant, Possess Controlled Substance – Wall Ave / San Pablo Ave:
At 1935 hours, an officer contacted a 53-year-old man and learned he was wanted on a warrant from Los Angeles. The man was arrested and found to be in possession of methamphetamine during a search incident to arrest. He was booked at the ECPD and released on a citation.

DUI – Schmidt Lane / Richmond St:
At 0412 hours, an officer located a vehicle stopped at the stop sign for eastbound Schmidt Lane at Richmond Street. The car was running, and the 27-year-old male driver from Albany was asleep at the wheel. He displayed objective symptoms of intoxication and was arrested for DUI. He was booked at the ECPD and then released on a citation.
July 20th

Warrant Arrest – San Pablo Ave and Stockton Ave.
At approximately 1605 hours, an officer conducted a traffic stop and subsequently arrested an occupant, a 25-year-old female from Oakland for an outstanding warrant out of Santa Clara County. The female was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and then released on a citation.

Warrant Arrest – 10869 San Pablo Ave. (Terrace Motel):
At approximately 1624 hours, an officer conducted a suspicious vehicle investigation and subsequently arrested a 32-year-old female from Vallejo for an outstanding warrant out of Vallejo PD. Also in the vehicle was a 24 –year-old female from Richmond who also had an outstanding warrant out for her arrest out of Santa Clara County. The 32-year-old female was released on the scene with a citation. The 24-year-old female was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released on a citation.

Warrant Arrest – San Pablo Avenue and Stockton Avenue:
At 1605 hours, an officer conducted a traffic stop and arrested an occupant, a 25-year-old female from Oakland, for an outstanding arrest warrant. The female was booked and released on a citation.

Warrant Arrest – 10869 San Pablo Avenue:
At 1624 hours, an officer recognized a suspect vehicle from a shoplifting investigation from the previous shift. The officer contacted a 32-year-old female from Vallejo and discovered she had an outstanding arrest warrant. The female was booked and released on a citation.

July 21st

Stolen Vehicle – San Pablo Avenue and Manila Avenue
At 1418 hours, an officer located an occupied stolen vehicle. When the officer attempted to stop the vehicle it fled. The officer lost sight of the vehicle, but two citizens called to report a male hoping a fence into their backyard. Another person reported seeing a male run through their apartment complex. Officers arrived in the area and located a 29-year-old male on the block over from where the vehicle was found. The male was identified as the driver and taken into custody. The male was booked and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Burglary – Humboldt Avenue and Key Boulevard
At 1658 hours, officers were dispatched to a person trying to open a door at a residence. Officers arrived on scene and located the subject, a 26-year-old female from San Pablo, who matched the description. The female was also identified as a suspect in several residential burglaries throughout the city. The female was booked and then transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

July 22nd

Criminal Threats- 10759 San Pablo Avenue (Marshalls)
At 1915 hours, officers were dispatched to Marshalls for a report of a battery. Officers contacted the victim and learned that a 28-year-old female from Vallejo threatened the victim and her mother while they were shopping. The victims were in fear of their safety and wanted to place the suspect under citizen’s arrest. The suspect was arrested and released on a citation.

Stolen Vehicle – 700 Block of Everett Street:
At 0430 hours, an officer responded to a report of the victim’s vehicle just being stolen in front of his residence. The victim attempted to follow the stolen vehicle and lost visual of the vehicle when it exited on University Ave from I-80.
