Hockley County Sheriff's Office calls for service and activities for Friday, 7/20/18, through Monday, 7/23/18.

Good Tuesday morning! The following are calls for service and activities for the Sheriff’s Office for Friday, 7/20/18, through Monday, 7/23/18.

7/20/18

-FM 300 at FM 303, Levelland: Vehicle Crash. A deputy responded to assist with a scene of a vehicle crash at the Fairview Curve. DPS arrived on scene and conducted the crash investigation into the single vehicle crash. Deputies assisted on scene as needed with traffic control.

-Hwy 385 at FM 301, Levelland: Vehicle Crash. A deputy was dispatched to the scene of a single vehicle crash near the intersection. DPS was on scene and deputies assisted with traffic control.

-FM 300 near Avenue S, Levelland: Disabled Vehicle. A deputy responded to a complaint of a disabled vehicle in the area. The area was checked and the vehicle was not located.

-1900 College Ave, Levelland: Assault. A deputy was dispatched to the ER regarding a possible assault report. The incident reportedly occurred several days prior and the complainant stated a neighbor had broken her son’s wrist. A report was taken related to the incident and the matter is under investigation.

-2000 blk FM 300, Levelland: Civil Issue. A deputy was dispatched to a business in the area regarding an employee that had been terminated. A deputy stood by as the employee left the property without incident.

-US Hwy 84 at FM 2130, Anton: Welfare Check. A deputy responded to the area to attempt to locate an individual walking along the highway. The area was checked and the individual was not located.

-6900 blk Elephant Rd, Smyer: Criminal Trespass. A deputy was dispatched to a residence in the area related to a criminal trespass warning. The resident requested a neighbor be trespassed from the property related to a dispute. The warning was issued.

7/21/18

-700 blk Koala Rd, Levelland: Disturbance. A deputy responded to a reported disturbance between parties at a residence in the area. None of the individuals wanted to pursue criminal charges related to the incident. One individual was taken into custody for a misdemeanor warrant and transported to the detention center without incident. The issue was handled by separation.

-4000 blk US 62/82, Ropesville: Vehicle Crash. A deputy was dispatched to a single vehicle crash in the area. One individual was transported to an area hospital, and DPS arrived on scene to conduct the crash investigation.

-Hwy 385 at FM 41, Levelland: Reckless Driver. A deputy was dispatched to a report of a reckless driver in the area. The area was checked and the vehicle described was not located.

-500 blk Tim, Levelland: Fire. Deputies responded to a report of a small fire at a residence in the area. The fire was extinguished and minor property damage was reported.

-200 blk Lakeview, Levelland: Juvenile Issue. A deputy was dispatched to the area to attempt to locate a juvenile that was possibly intoxicated. The juvenile was located and was transported to an area hospital for evaluation.

7/22/18

-2400 blk Hwy 114, Levelland: Alarm. Deputies responded to an alarm at a business in the area. The property was checked and found to be secured. No offenses were reported.

-200 blk College Ave, Levelland: Assist EMS. A deputy responded to assist with a medical complaint at a business in the area. One individual was transported to be evaluated.

-6800 blk Elephant Rd, Smyer: Intoxicated Driver. A deputy was dispatched to attempt to locate a possible intoxicated driver in the area. The area was checked and the vehicle described was not located. No additional calls were received.

-3900 blk Cactus, Levelland: Suspicious Activity. A deputy was notified of a suspicious person observed outside of a residence in the area. The individual was located, and was reportedly taking photographs of the property. A criminal trespass warning was issued at the request of the resident.

7/23/18

-Hwy 114 at FM 168, Smyer: Reckless Driver. A deputy responded to a report of a reckless driver along the highway in the area. The area was checked and the vehicle was not located. No other calls were received.

-Hwy 114 at Barton Ln, Levelland: Welfare Check. A deputy stopped to check on a vehicle that was stopped along the highway in the area. The driver stopped due to the passenger feeling sick. No assistance was needed and the driver continued to his destination.

-1310 Avenue H, LEC: Juvenile Issue. A deputy met with a complainant regarding an issue with a juvenile over text messages. No offenses were reported, and remedies were provided to parties.

-FM 303 at Jamaica Rd, Pettit: Loose Livestock. A deputy was dispatched to attempt to locate loose livestock in the area. Several cattle were located and secured. The owner was notified.

-100 blk Lacey Ln, Opdyke, Assist EMS. A deputy responded to assist with a complaint of a possible issue with medication. One individual was transported to an area hospital for evaluation.

-Hwy 385 at FM 301, Levelland: Welfare Check. A deputy was dispatched to attempt to locate a female walking along the roadway in the area. The area was checked and no one was located. No other calls were received.

-US Hwy 62/82 near FM 41, Ropesville: Fire. A deputy checked the area related to a possible small grass fire. The highway was checked and no fire was located. No other reports were received.

-300 blk Drew, Opdyke: Suspicious Activity. A deputy was notified of a suspicious person in the area. The individual was located and was assisting with loading a relative’s vehicle who resides in the area. No offenses were observed or reported.

-1900 blk College, Levelland: Intoxicated Subject. A deputy was notified of a possible intoxicated subject at the hospital. The individual had reportedly been involved with a minor crash near Opdyke. The individual left the hospital and was later contacted by a trooper. The individual was arrested for a DWI offense by the trooper and transported to the detention center without incident.

Deputies also conducted close patrols/vacation watches, patrols in all areas of the county, civil process service, and investigative follow-up activities.

Jail population as of 7/24/18 at 0800 hours: 52 in Hockley County, 46 out of county.
