The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.

July 19th

0731 Hours: Officer D. Johnson contacted and arrested a 55-year-old Newark male for possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and for driving on a suspended license during a traffic stop on Newark Boulevard at Dairy Avenue. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

0855 Hours: Officer Fredstrom contacted and arrested a 53-year-old Newark male for his outstanding warrants during a traffic stop on Birch Street at Mistflower Avenue. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

1411 Hours: Officer Herbert contacted and arrested a 29-year-old Tracy male for the fraudulent display of vehicle registration tabs during a routine traffic stop on Stevenson Boulevard. The suspect was issued a citation and released.

1733 Hours: Officer Fredstrom contacted and arrested a 46-year-old Newark male for violating the terms of a restraining order on the 6100 block of Cotton Avenue. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

2257 Hours: Community Service Officer Parks investigated a residential burglary on the 5700 block of Musick Avenue. The loss is unknown at this time.

July 20th

1309 Hours: Officer Fredstrom contacted and arrested a 23-year-old Newark male for his outstanding warrants during a pedestrian stop on Cedar Boulevard at Cedar Court. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

1405 Hours: Officer Fredstrom contacted and arrested a 26-year-old transient male for his outstanding warrant during a pedestrian stop on the 5700 block of Thornton Avenue. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

0129 hours: Sergeant Homayoun and Officer Horst responded to a disturbance at O’Sullivans Sports Bar, 5660 Thornton Avenue. The Officers contacted and arrested a 34-year-old Fremont male, a 28-year-old San Jose male and a 28 year-old male for public intoxication and fighting in public. All three were booked into the Fremont Jail.

0159 hours: Officer Slavazza contacted and arrested a 25-year-old Newark male for probation violation and obstructing a Police Officer during a traffic stop on the 37100 block of San Antonio Street. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

July 21st

1844 hours: Officers responded to a disturbance on the 35600 block of Haley Street. A 25-year-old Hayward male was contacted and arrested for obstructing a Police Officer. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

July 22nd

1157 Hours: Officer Rivera contacted and arrested a 26-year-old Alviso male for his outstanding warrants when he came to the Police Department front counter for a vehicle release. The suspect was booked into the San Jose Main Jail.

1220 Hours: Officer Fredstrom investigated a theft of six cell phones from the T-Mobile store at Newpark Mall. The investigation is ongoing.

1854 Hours: Officer Hunter investigated a residential burglary on the 6200 block of Mayhews Landing Road. The loss is household appliances and building materials.
