Impacts to New Jersey

Rainfall may total 2” to 4” for areas under the Flash Flood Watch, and 1” to 2” for remaining counties. Flash flooding is possible in urban areas, locations with poor drainage, small creeks and streams, and roadways. Rip current risk is high through this evening. Winds may gust 20-40 MPH with highest gusts along the coast.

Marginal Risk of Severe Weather.

Slight Risk of Flash Flooding.

WHERE: Severe weather emphasis is across Long Island and southeast Connecticut, while the flash flood threat is highest across Northeast New Jersey
and the NYC metro.

WHEN: Tonight into early Sunday morning.

Potential Hazards and Impacts:

Severe Thunderstorms: The main threats associated with any severe storms will be:
Wind gusts in excess of 60 mph, which could down tree limbs, trees and powerlines and/or cause structural damage. Isolated power outages are possible.
Isolated weak tornadoes and/or waterspouts.
The Storm Prediction Center has placed portions of NYC, all of Long Island, and southeastern Connecticut in a Marginal Risk for severe thunderstorms.
