HCSO Release Details Of Point Park Deputy Involved Shooting.

On July 20, 2018, at approximately 3:11 PM, District 5 Patrol Units responded to the Chesapeake Apartments located at 8727 Point Park drive, in reference to an Aggravated Robbery.

An adult male was robbed by at least four (4) male suspects while delivering food to what turned out to be a vacant apartment.

Responding HCSO deputies met with a Precinct 4 Constables deputy, who was working extra employment at the complex, and were directed to another vacant apartment where the suspects were possibly hiding.

Deputies made entry to the apartment with a key and were immediately fired upon by the suspect(s). The deputies retreated from the apartment and took cover.

The suspect(s) began firing at the deputies from the balcony of the apartment.

The suspects were able to exit the upstairs apartment and a foot pursuit ensued.

During the foot pursuit, one of the suspects now identified as 19-year-old Javier Lopez.

Lopez fired several shots at deputies.

He eventually stopped near the complex leasing office and turned towards deputies.

Lopez then pointed a revolver in the direction of the deputies at which time ten (10) HCSO deputies and one (1) Cy Fair ISD Officer discharged rounds at the suspect.

He was struck by a projectile and died at the scene. No law enforcement personnel or residents were injured.

HCSO Violent Crimes investigators have charged 17-year-old Joshua White and two juveniles, 13 and 15 years old with aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon.

This deputy involved shooting is being investigated by the HCSO Internal Affairs unit, Office of Inspector General and the Harris County District Attorney’s Office Investigators.

Mugshots are Lopez listed first and White second.
