In the early morning hours of May 30, 2016 the Fairfield Police Department received a report of a shooting victim in the backyard of a residence in the 1000 block of Harding St. The victim, Anthony Gaines, a 46-year old Fairfield resident, had sustained an apparent gunshot wound to his head and was transported to a local trauma center. Fairfield Police detectives responded to the residence and began an investigation. The victim succumbed to his injuries a month later.
Detectives used DNA located during the investigation to develop a potential suspect in this case. On Thursday, July 19, 2018 Jeremy Fisher, a 22-year old Fairfield resident, was detained by Fairfield detectives and questioned regarding his involvement in the homicide. Fisher and the victim had known each other and lived at the same residence at the time of the shooting. Using DNA evidence and information provided during Fisher's interview, detectives booked him into Solano County Jail on homicide charges.
The investigation into this incident is ongoing and could lead to future arrests. As this is still an active homicide investigation no further information will be released at this time.
